The gene is located near the center of the insert, with the 5 end toward the yeast centromere. It is contained in a 100 kb MluI fragment.
When transferred to mouse L-cell line A-9 (GM00346B, HPRT-negative), the YAC conferred the ability to grow in HAT medium.
