The 3.9 kb EcoRI genomic fragment is detected by the exon 6 - 8 probe but not the exon 3 - 5 probe. This fragment is a doublet resulting from two distinct PGA genes.
The 13.5 kb EcoRI genomic fragment is detected by the exon 3 - 5 probe but not the exon 6 - 8 probe. This EcoRI fragment is detected in haplotype A which contains the PGA3, PGA4, and PGA5 genes.
The 22.0 kb and the 17.8 kb genomic EcoRI fragments are detected by both the exon 3 - 5 and 6 - 8 probes, suggesting the size heterogeneity results from variation at the 5 region of two distinct genes.
Recorded as not polymorphic by Collaborative Research, meaning either not polymorphic in 0.8% agarose gels, or difficult to work with.
