Classification: Poxviridae, Orthopoxvirus
Deposited As: Vaccinia virus, Orthopoxvirus
Agent: Vaccinia virus ts mutant
Strain: IHD-W Dts41
Applications:
The mutation was assigned by complementation analysis to vaccinia map location E(2-8).
Biosafety Level: 2 Vaccination recommended for lab staff manipulating vaccinia, monkeypox, or cowpox viruses
Isolation:
This conditional lethal mutant, originally designated plaque isolate no. 6606, was isolated from the IHD-W strain of Vaccinia by S. Dales. The IHD-W strain was derived from an IHD-J strain of Vaccinia.
Product Format: frozen
Storage Conditions: -70°C or colder
Comments:
Selected after mutagenesis with nitrosoguanidine and replication in the presence of bromodeoxyuridine. The non-permissive incubation temperature is 39.5oC. This mutant was assigned a Dales EM category of P, characterized by immature normal particles and mature particles with cores that are predominantly lucent at the center. The mutation was assigned by complementation analysis to vaccinia map location E(2-8).
Effect on Host:
Cytopathic effects include enlargement and rounding of cells, followed by death and eventual sloughing.
CPE: enlargement, plaques with rounding and eventual sloughing
