Effect on Host:
CPE, vacuolization and rounding of cells, sloughing
Recommended Host:
Vero cells (ATCC® CCL-81™)
Growth Conditions:

Recommendations for Infection: For best results cells should be 24 to 48 hours old and 70% - 90% confluent (not 100% confluent).

Incubation: 5 to 7 days at 37°C, a 5% CO2 in air atmosphere is recommended

Name of Depositor: LE Carmichael, ATCC
Special Collection: ATCC
Source: ATCC® VR-1587™ was derived at ATCC from ATCC®xa0VR-526™ by adaptation to growth in Vero cells (ATCC® CCL-81™). ATCC® VR-526™, deposited by L.E. Carmichael, was isolated from brain of dog with clinical distemper, September, 1950. Because it was propagated in animal tissue ATCC will no longer offer that product.
