Hybridizes with DNA from chimpanzee, gorilla, weakly with orangutan, but not with gibbon, Old or New World monkeys. This hybridizes to certain fragments in HinfI and HindIII-digested DNA, but little or no repeat sequence homology is seen with EcoRI, KpnI or PstI-digested DNA. The XbaI repeat is composed of 4 tandem repeats of 171, 170, 171, 170 bp. pF5 hybridizes with all centromeric regions but Y. There is 64% hybridization signal at centromeres, 43% total label on D and G group chromosomes, and no hybridization detected at telomeres. |
