Biosafety classification is based on U.S. Public Health Service Guidelines, it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that their facilities comply with biosafety regulations for their own country.

Disease: lymphoma
Strain: DBA/2
Applications:
The cells are resistant to X-rays, but sensitive to ultraviolet radiation, heat and some potential anti neoplastic drugs (e.
The X-ray sensitive L5178-S line (ATCC CRL-1723) was derived from this line.
Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus.
Derivation:
This cell line was derived from the L5178 thymic lymphoma induced by methylcholanthrene in a DBA/2 mouse.
The X-ray sensitive L5178-S line (ATCC CRL-1723) was derived from this line.
Tumorigenic: Yes
Effects:
Yes, in DBA/2 mice
Comments:
The cells are resistant to X-rays, but sensitive to ultraviolet radiation, heat and some potential anti neoplastic drugs (e.g., cis-PAD).
After 6 months to 3 years in culture, the line converts to an X-ray sensitive state.
Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus.
Complete Growth Medium: Fischers medium with 0.1 g/L sodium pyruvate and 1.125 g/L sodium bicarbonate, 90%; horse serum, 10%
Subculturing:
Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start cultures at 4 x 10 4 cells/mL and maintain between 3 x 10 4 and 7 x 10 4 cells/mL.
Medium Renewal: Twice per week
Cryopreservation:
culture medium, 90%; DMSO, 10%
Name of Depositor: JZ Beer
Deposited As: Mus musculus
