The cells express a cell surface glycoprotein of 61000 daltons (45000 daltons when not glycosylated) that is characteristic of HTLV infection.

Complete Growth Medium: The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Iscoves Modified Dulbeccos Medium, Catalog No. 30-2005. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 20%.
Subculturing:
Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Establish new cultures at about 2 to 4 x 105xa0cells/mL and maintain between 4 x 105xa0and 1 x 106xa0cells/mL.
Subcultivation Ratio: A subcultivation ratio of 1:2 to 1:3 is recommended
Medium Renewal: Twice per week
Cryopreservation:
Complete growth medium, 95%; DMSO, 5%.xa0Cell culture tested DMSO is available as ATCC Catalog No. 4-X.
