Biosafety classification is based on U.S. Public Health Service Guidelines, it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that their facilities comply with biosafety regulations for their own country.

Disease: lymphoma
Strain: AKR/J
Storage Conditions: liquid nitrogen vapor phase
Derivation:
This line is a clone of the BW5147 cell line which was established from a spontaneous AKR/J thymoma.
Antigen Expression:
H-2k; Thy-1.1
Comments:

The cells are HAT resistant but sensitive to 0.001 mM cortisol and to 25 mcg/mL PHA.

Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox).
Complete Growth Medium: The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Dulbeccos Modified Eagles Medium, Catalog No. 30-2002. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: horse serum to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing: Cultures can be maintained by addition of fresh medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension at 1 x 105xa0viable cells/mL. Maintain cultures at a cell concentration between 1 x 105 and 1 x 106xa0cells/mL. Do not allow the cell concentration to exceed 2 x 106xa0cells/mL.
Medium Renewal: Add fresh medium every 2 to 3 days (depending on cell density).
Cryopreservation:
Complete growth medium 95%; DMSO, 5%.xa0Cell culture tested DMSO is available as ATCC Catalog No. 4-X.

Culture Conditions:
Temperature: 37°C Atmosphere: 5% CO2
Name of Depositor: R Hyman, P Ralph
Deposited As: Mus musculus
