Disease: body cavity based lymphoma
Age: 92 years
Gender: male
Storage Conditions: liquid nitrogen vapor phase
Derivation:
BCP-1 is a clonal lymphoma cell line isolated in 1995 by serial dilution of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from an HIV seronegative patient with body cavity based lymphoma (BCBL).
Comments:

The BCP-1 cell line is positive for the Kaposis sarcoma associated herpesvirus (KSHV, provisionally designated Human Herpes Virus-8 or HHV-8) genome at 150 copies/cell.

BCP-1 is negative for Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), HHV-6 and HHV-7.

Complete Growth Medium: The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated RPMI-1640 Medium, Catalog No. 30-2001. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 20%.
Subculturing: Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start cultures at 2 x 105 cells/mL and maintain between 1 x 105 and 1 x 106 cells/mL.
Interval: Maintain between 1 x 105 and 1 x 106 cells/mL.
Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
Cryopreservation: Complete growth medium supplemented with 7.5% (v/v) DMSO. Cell culture tested DMSO is available as ATCC Catalog No. 4-X.
Culture Conditions:
Temperature: 37°C
Atmosphere: Air, 95%; Carbon dioxide (CO2), 5%
Name of Depositor: SJ Gao, PS Moore, Y Chang
Deposited As: Homo sapiens
Year of Origin: 1995
