Comments:
Species-specific monoclonal antibody only reacts with R. japonica but not with other spotted fever group rickettsiae. Vero cells demonstrated to be mycoplasma-free before infection.
Infected Vero cells grow like uninfected cells in MEM with 10% FBS devoid of antibiotics. Subculture by dispersion with 0.05% trypsin and 0.02% EDTA is possible for many passages.
Restrictions: This material is not available for international distribution due to the lack of historical data to support the issuance of a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) export permit.
