Biosafety Level: 2

Biosafety classification is based on U.S. Public Health Service Guidelines, it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that their facilities comply with biosafety regulations for their own country.

Product Format: frozen 0.5 mL per vial
Specification: Quantitative PFUs and genome copy number reported on Certificate of Analysis; Infectious Titer: >107 TCID50/mL
Storage Conditions: -70°C or colder
Images: VR-1838PQ images
Comments: ATCC®xa0VR-1838PQ™ is a high-titer, live virus suspended in culture medium. This product was prepared from ATCC®xa0VR-1838™ via concentration by centrifugal filtration.
Effect on Host: CPE, refractile rounding and sloughing
Recommended Host:
Vero cells (ATCC® CCL-81™)
Growth Conditions:

Temperature: 37°C

Recommendations for Infection: Plate cells 18-24 hours prior to infection and infect when cultures are 60-80% confluent. Remove medium and inoculate with a small volume of virus (e.g. 1 mL per 25 cm2) diluted to provide an optimal MOI (e.g. 0.1). Adsorb 1-2 hours at 37°C in a humidified 5% CO2 atmosphere. End adsorption by adding virus growth medium.

Incubation: 4-7 days at 37°C in a humidified 5% CO2 atmosphere, until CPE is progressed through 80% of the monolayer.

Name of Depositor: J Casals, The Rockefeller Foundation, ATCC
Source: Blood of a rhesus monkey which became infected while stationed as a sentinel in forest near Entebbe, Uganda, 1947
