Product Format: frozen 1 mL per vial
Storage Conditions: Vapor phase of liquid nitrogen
Comments: Virus primarily cell-associated. Cryopreserve virus in 8% DMSO (ATCC® 4-X™).
Effect on Host:
CPE, cell rounding and degeneration
Recommended Host:
SC-1 cells (ATCC® CRL-1404™)
Growth Conditions:
Temperature: 37°C
Recommendations For Infection: This product is produced by co-cultivation of virus with fresh host cells. Prepare a bulk cell suspension the day of inoculation. Seed culture vessels at 8 x 104 - 1 x 105 cells per cm2. Calculate the volume of virus needed to achieve an optimal MOI (e.g. 0.01) and then dilute virus in virus growth medium to prepare the virus inoculum. Add virus inoculum to culture vessels. Incubate for 24 hours at 37°C in a humidified 5% CO2 atmosphere. Aspirate virus growth medium to remove any traces of DMSO and then add fresh virus growth medium to cultures. Continue incubation.
Incubation: 2-7 days
Name of Depositor: WP Rowe, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
Special Collection: ATCC
Source: Salivary gland tissues from three naturally infected mice. Derived from VR-194™. Treated to remove Mycoplasma hominis at ATCC®.
