The slants are inoculated and incubated upright for about 1 week. The bacteria will grow and settle down as a faint white precipitate at the ground of the slant (deepest point of liquid). That is how the cultures are prepared for delivery also. Transfer about 250 µl of the suspension to inoculate fresh slants. Growth will be indicated by the precipitate.
